In 1988, Barbara Zollars became a Colorado Deputy State Public Defender in the La Junta, Colorado, Regional Public Defender’s office. In 1993 she, was chosen to manage the Silverthorne Regional Office, covering the entire Fifth Judicial District as well as Clear Creek and Grand Counties. In 1996 she was chosen to manage the Fort Collins Regional Office, a very busy office against an intelligent and aggressive Prosecutors Office. In 2002 she chose to relocate her family to the San Luis Valley and run the regional Public defender’s Office located in Alamosa, Colorado.
Finally in 2008 Barbara Zollars started her own criminal practice and has established a presence in the San Luis Valley as a private Criminal Defense Lawyer handling cases from minor traffic to First Degree Murder cases, and everything in between.
For over twenty-two years, Barbara Zollars, has helped clients in Colorado defend themselves and successfully navigate the often confusing and complex world of courts and criminal justice system.
Barbara Zollars experience includes the full range of criminal cases. She has represented clients at every level of criminal case, from DUI’s to First Degree Murder with a great deal of sucess. Her experience includes high profile homicides, serial sexual assaults, as well as not guilty by reason of insanity cases. She is totally committed to providing the absolute best representation possible for her clients.
Barbara Zollars experience also includes teaching other lawyers as an instructor at Colorado Public defenders training programs, speaking at Continuing Education for traffic enforcement, serving on Judicial Performance Commission, Fifth Judicial District. She also founded and managed a legal aid program in Seattle, Washington. She has served as a hearing officer for the City of Seattle, Employment civil rights commission.
Ms. Zollars is also an active member of the San Luis Valley Community. She serves on several Boards and is involved with many youth sports organizations.
